Challenge

The customer’s SSSV failed to operate the flapper valve. Based on Blue Spark’s success in clearing scale across SSSVs in other regions, the customer decided to mobilize BlueSpark.

Well Conditions

• Depth: 3000 ft (915 m)
• Temperature: 42 °C (109 °F)
• Directional well

Solution

The BLUESPARK® 275 tool was run on third-party E-Line to the treatment interval of the well

• Three pulsing passes were made over a 20 ft interval in a treatment time of 5.3 hours
• The functionality of the flapper valve was tested, with both the fully closed and fully open positions confirmed using a downhole camera.

Outcome

• BLUESPARK® successfully removed the scale from the SSSV, enabling the flapper valve to function properly and, more importantly, allowing the well to return to production.
• A three-well campaign was subsequently planned.
